Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration

MS SwaminathanNoted agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan selected for the Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration for the year 2012. MS Swaminathan is an Indian geneticist and 
former member of Rajya SabhaSwaminathan contributed to the agricultural renaissance in the country and led the nation to achieve green revolution.             
                                                 
MS Swaminathan has served as Director of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. He served as Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Agricultural Research and Education.

Alice Munro

Alice Munro Canadian author Alice Munro has won the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature. The 82-year-old, whose books include Dear Life and Dance of the Happy Shades, is only the 13th woman to win the prize since its inception in 1901.
The Swedish Academy which selects Nobel literature winners described her as the master of the contemporary short story. Munro won the Man Booker International Prize for her entire body of work in 2009. Her most recent collection is Dear Life (2012).

Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola

Miss NigeriaObabiyi Aishah Ajibola  won the Miss Muslimah World contest which was organised by the World Muslimah Foundation in Jakartha, Indonesia on 18 September 2013.The annual Muslim event was held exclusively for Muslim women, who are assessed not only for their appearance in Islamic dress but also for their piety, religious knowledge and understanding of the Quran. 

Entrants were asked to talk people through their path to the religion and what wearing a headscarf meant to them.The Miss Muslimah World is an Islamic beauty pageant held every year at Indonesia. The contest was launched as a response to the Miss World pageant.

Mahathir Award

The former South African President Nelson Mandela  was honored with the first Lifetime Campaigner for Peace and Freedom of the Mahathir award for Global Peace while former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir received the Lifetime Campaigner for Gloabal Peace award from the Mahathir Global Peace Foundation.The awards were presented at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC),Putrajaya,Malaysia for their contribution to world peace.

The Mahathir Award for Global Peace is a peace award instituted by the Mahathir Global Peace Foundation. Mahathir bin Mohamad is a Malaysian politician who was the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia. He held the post for 22 years from 1981 to 2003, making him Malaysia's longest serving Prime Minister.

International Children’s Peace Prize 2013

Malala Yousafzai  won the International Children’s Peace Prize 2013. She will receive the award from 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner and women's rights campaigner Tawakkol Karman at a ceremony in The Hague on 6 September 2013. The peace prize carries a cash value of 100000 euros (133000 US dollars) which is invested in projects relating to the winner's cause. Malala campaigned for girls' right to education.
                                                
The International Children's Peace Prize is an initiative of the Amsterdam based Dutch Kids Rights Foundation. It was launched in the year 2005 by former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, when he chaired the Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Rome. Since then, the prize has been awarded every year by a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.
