Raijin

Raijin

Raijin, Australia unveiled its most powerful super computer in Canberra, Raijin is named after the Japanese God of thunder and rain. 

Raijin is considered the 27th most powerful computer in the world. The supercomputer can perform the same number of calculations in one hour that 7 billion people with calculators could perform in 20 years. Raijin forms a part of the new National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) facility at the campus. The computer itself is bigger than the size of a house.

Internet.org

Social networking giant Facebook joined forces with six other technology giants to launch Internet.org with an aim to make Internet access affordable for people across the globe. internet.org is an initiative of  seven technology giants namely Facebook, Ericsson, MediaTek, Nokia, Opera, Qualcomm and Samsung.
The initiative will see the partners collaborate on developing lower-cost, higher-quality smartphones and deploying Internet access in undeserved communities. The founding members of Internet.org will develop joint projects, share knowledge, and mobilise industry and governments to bring the world online
