Gitanjali Poems Collection released in 14 Languages

Gitanjali, the collection of poems  by Rabindranath Tagore was released in 14 different languages at Kolkata by Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Gitanjali  first time  published in 1913 and is a collection of 157 poems. In 1913, Tagore became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, largely for the English Gitanjali.

The English version of Gitanjali that is known as the Song Offerings is a collection of 103 English poems. These were self translated by Tagore and was published by the Indian Society of London.

Raghuram Rajan

Raghuram Rajan will lead RBI:  The government of India has appointed Raghuram Rajan as the next governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He will succeed D.Subbarao who is retiring on 4 september 2013.

He is graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, and he completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad in 1987. After graduation, Rajan joined the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He was then appointed as the youngest-ever Economic Counselor and Director of Research (chief economist) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

India won its first Bronze Medal at Junior Women Hockey World Cup 2013

Indian Junior Women Hockey team won its first  Bronze medal in ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup at Monchengladbac, Germany on 4 August 2013. India ended at third position in the tournament. India beat England by 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out.

The Netherland team won the final against Argentina 4-2 in the shoot-out and clinched the trophy for a record third time. 
* Netherland:    Gold Medal was captained by Renske Siersema. 
Argentina:       Silver Medal was captained by Florencia Habif.
India:                   Bronze Medal was captained by Sushila Chanu.

Talking Robot !!!!!!!!!!!

Kirobo, first talking Robot was successfully sent into space by Japanese Scientists on 4th of August. 

The rocket carried food, water and other supplies. Kirobo will serve as a companion for Japanese astronauts.

The name of Kirobo is a merging of Kibo and robot, designed by scientists and engineers at the University of Tokyo.

It is equipped with voice-recognition and face-recognition technology, as well as a camera, emotion recognition software and natural language processing.

Telangana, the 29th State of India announced by UPA

UPA and Congress unanimously decided to create a separate Telangana State carving out of Andhra Pradesh on 30 July 2013.  

The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of Congress Party, on 30 July 2013 decided to recommend to the Central Government to form the 29th State which will comprise of 10 districts. The districts that will be a part of the new State are Hyderabad,Adilabad, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and WarangalKarimnagar, Khammam.
 
Hyderabad, the central point of the Telangana, will be the common capital of the newly proposed State and the other regions, Rayalaseema and Andhra for a period of 10 years. A new capital for Andhra will be identified in Seemandhra region within this period. Telangana State will have a geographical area of 10 of the 23 districts of undivided Andhra Pradesh. Out of 42 Lok Sabha seats and 294 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana is likely to have 17 Lok Sabha seats and 119 Assembly seat

Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award

Amjad Ali Khan was chosen for the 21st Rajiv Gandhi National Sadhbhavna Award for his contribution towards promotion of communal harmony and peace. He is Sarod maestro. 
It will be conferred on Amjad Ali Khan on 20 August 2013, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Rajiv Gandhi National Communal Harmony Award (Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award) is an award given for outstanding contribution towards promotion of communal harmonynational integration and peace. The award was instituted by All India Congress Committee of the Indian National Congress Party (INC), in 1992 to commemorate the lasting contribution made by the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. 
The award carries a citation and a cash award of five lakh rupees.The award is given on 20 August every year, the birth anniversary of Late Rajiv Gandhi, which iscelebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas (Harmony Day).
