British-Indian writer Neel Mukherjee's novel "The Lives of
Others" has been shortlisted for Man Booker Prize 2014. Neel Mukherjee is
a Kolkata-born British Indian writer and this is his second novel. The novel is
set in 1960s Bengal and revolves around a man's extremist political activism
during troubled times. The Novel is published by Granta which has so far sold
300000 copies in the United Kingdom and almost 500000 copies worldwide.
The Man Booker, which is awarded to the best novel of the year in the opinion
of the judges, is worth £50,000 to the winner. The winner will be announced on
14th October 2014.

MyGov
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi launched a web
platform named as MyGov. URL of this web platform is MyGov.nic.in . The
platform has been created to facilitate Citizen Engagement in Good Governance. MyGov
will enable the citizens especially the youth to volunteer for specific tasks
and projects at grassroots level. It will allow the common people to reach the
government with ideas and suggestions. The platform will allow flow of
ideas/suggestions on various issues including cleaning the river Ganga,
education of girl child and job creation etc. The National Informatics Centre (NIC),
Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) would implement
and manage the platform "MyGov" which would facilitate Citizen
Engagement in Good Governance.
