V.V.S. Laxman: In August 2012 announced his retirement from international cricket, ending a glorious career spanning 16 years. Laxman played 134 Tests, amassing 8781 runs at an average of 45.97. Mehta was suffering from lung cancer and was getting treatment at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. During his long career in Bollywood Mehta worked with prominent filmmakers like Subhash Ghai, Rajiv Rai and MF Husain.
